YesArtCan2017 was a tribute to Art, Artists and their Teachers. It was an initiative by a few artists in collaboration with IGNCA (Indira Gandhi National Centre For The Arts) to promote artistic sensitivity. Artists came together to give back to the society what they had learned in their journey of art. It was a nine day Art Exhibition cum Meet, the first of its kind, where ex-students and former professors of College of Art, Delhi showcases their work together.


The Objective :

1) To strengthen the concept of Guru-Shishya parampara. 2) To create a platform to discuss art. 3) To ignite artistic aptitude in people and society.

Art  Exhibition :

Some of the renowned artists who were former teachers and ex-students of College of art Delhi showcased their works of art.

FORMER TEACHERS : They are well known and respected personalities in the world of art. They are award-winning artists who have inspired and influenced both art and artists.

Mr. Om Prakash Sharma (ex-principal and painter), Mr. Niren Sen Gupta (ex-principal and painter), Mr. Paramjeet Singh (ex-principal and painter), Mr. Ramesh Bisht (sculptor), Mr. Dhiraj Choudury (painter), Mr. Biman Das (sculptor), Ms. Anupam Sud (painter), Mr. Jai Zharotia (painter), Mr. Jagadish De (painter), Mr. Krishan Ahuja (painter), Mr. Phalguni Dasgupta (painter), Mr. K L Meena (painter), Mr. Bilash Bose (painter) and Kanchan Chander (painter) participated.

FORMER STUDENTS : They are well known Contemporary Artist who have graduated from College of Art, Delhi. They are professionals in the area of Art, Art Education and Art Communication. Many of them have earned considerable recognition in their respective fields of painting, sculpture, prints, photography, film, design, advertising and academics.

Talks/ Discussions :

How to revive art culture in the society, art appreciation, etc were some of the thought provoking and useful topics for the talks. Eminent people from the world of art participated in talks and discussions.

Ms. Madhur Sen has been exploring ceramic art for more than two decades. She has been teaching ceramic art as well as creating pieces of art. She talked about importance of a woman in the world of Art.

Dr.Alka Pande is a renowned art critic, cultural theorist, teacher, curator, and an author. She has been passionately involved with the world of art for nearly three decades. She talked about 'the importance of art in a society'.

A panel discussion on 'future of art in India and what should be done to improve it', with eminent people like Veer Munshi, Peter Nagy and Nuzhat Kazmi. Moderated by Shukla Sawant.

Ms. Kanchan Chander a famous artist whose work is in galleries of National Gallery of Modern Art in Delhi to Victoria and Albert Museum in London. She talked about art appreciation in society.
